My name is Thowheetha Shaah and I run Bespoke Mediation Service, based in Esher, Surrey. I understand how hard it can be to cope with a divorce or relationship dispute and the need for specialist support. As a Family Mediator, I can help you find a way through the conflict and move towards a brighter future.
I qualified as a Solicitor in 1991 and have been specialising in Family Law since 1994. I qualified as a Family Mediator in 2000. I am an Accredited Mediator with the Family Mediation Council. I am also qualified to speak to children in mediation. This allows the child/children to have a voice and express their true wishes and feelings. This can be empowering for the child/children and enlightening for the adults involved.
I can see the benefits of Mediation, the benefits of active listening and good communication to resolve disputes. Acquiring the skills of a Family Mediator at a young age can be extremely helpful, which is why I trained to be a Peer Mediator. Essentially, this means I am able to train school children to mediate between themselves
I pass on my years of experience by being a Trainer for National Family Mediation, the largest provider of Family Mediation in England and Wales. Not only do I train people to become Family Mediators, but I also devise and deliver training courses to qualified Family Mediators. I have also been a Law Lecturer for Bromley College and Kingston College, teaching Family Law, Employment Law and Civil Litigation to CILEX students.
Previously, I have been an honorary Legal Advisor at the Royal Courts of Justice Advice Bureau, an Advisor at Bromley Citizen’s Advice Bureau and the Bromley Domestic Violence Forum. Furthermore, I have been Treasurer of the Bromley and District Law Society from 1999 to 2016 and was the society’s President in 2007/8.
Alongside my work for Bespoke Mediation Service, I am a Family Law Consultant at Setfords Solicitors and can therefore also be engaged as a Family Solicitor through them. I am also a School Governor and as a Magistrate, I deal with family and adult crime cases.
When I am not busy problem solving, I like to socialise with friends and family, travel, go on driving experiences and listen to music.
